Always wanted to know how it would be to live on a ship? Want to have all luxury of a hotel, but with the feeling of a ship? Want to stay from Saturday the 8 of august, till Sunday the 17 of August?
The organisation of the worlds is thinking about renting a ship which will be placed next to the event-area and which can be used as a hotel.
For a ship the cabins are spacious and are equipped with two separate box-spring beds and bathrooms. With a folding bed in each hut, the capacity of the ship is up to 36 persons. When only double rooms are booked (without the extra 3rd bed), the capacity of the ship is 24 persons.
The price of a cabin will be €650 for the whole stay week (Saturday the 8 of august, till Sunday the 17 of August). You’ll get two single beds or one double bed, and one smaller bed as shown on the picture below. Each cabin has its own toilet and shower.
In 2004, the Dutch Dart Organisation (NDKO) introduced the Student Boat. The goal is to educate and coach young sailors for racing with a Dart 18. Members were selected from sailing teams from universities across the country. The NDKO introduced a platform through which students with different backgrounds train simultaneously and sail in the Dutch Dart competition. Within the NDKO – structure, people are assigned for coaching and training.
The concept the NDKO has introduced is unique. Where Other sailing associations focus on people who already are in some kind of sailing competition, the NDKO has approached young people that currently do not have their own boat, but are motivated to sail races and have the skills. This way, a new group of sailors will enter the competition that probably would not have had the chance to do so, otherwise. Those young sailors already proofed their success by sailing increasingly better in the Dutch competition.
The Worlds 2008 would like to encourage this concept internationally. Therefore, teams that consist of only students can enter competition with a discount on the entry fee. Our aim is to have student clubs competing with each other on their Dart 18 around the world.
Of course there will be a special award for the winning team.
