ISAF Sailing Hall of Fame To honour heroes and legends from across all areas of the sailing world, ISAF is launching a virtual Sailing Hall of Fame. A lasting legacy from ISAF’s historic year, the Sailing Hall of Fame will provide not only a dedicated website for the glorious history of sailing, but a platform for the ongoing recognition of sailing’s greatest contributors. 100 Years of Sailing Commemorative Book This commemorative book will be the ultimate record of sailing over the past 100 years. The content follows the development classes and the one-designs plus small dinghies to offshore racers. It will analyse sailing’s leading personalities and show how many of them have contributed to and influenced the evolution of the sport. Recording the international development of the sport, together with the progressive growth of the sailing, the book covers all aspects of the tremendous era of the IYRU and ISAF. | | © Gregory Scott | Sail the World Weekend 1 and 2 September are dates for your diary! ISAF will be working with Member National Authorities across the world, to get sailors and newcomers out on the water. ISAF wants to hear your stories and see your pictures and there will be a competition for the MNA that has the most participating clubs on the water. Every club and every sailor will receive a certificate, whilst each participating MNA will receive a commemorative plaque to mark the occasion. More details for this exciting and unique weekend will follow. ISAF Beppe Croce Trophy ISAF is delighted that the President of the International Olympic Committee, Jacques Rogge (BEL) has accepted the ISAF Beppe Croce Trophy for 2007. The Trophy is given to recognize an outstanding voluntary contribution to the sport of sailing. ROGGE who has competed in three Olympic Sailing Competitions started sailing at a young age. Together with his Olympic career, he also won the Yachting Cadet Trophy and was runner up in the ¾ Ton Cup. In addition, ROGGE served as President for the International Finn Association from 1979 – 81 and was a member of the ISAF Medical Commission from 1990-2000. ROGGE will be presented with the ISAF Beppe Croce Trophy by ISAF President Goran PETERSSON (SWE) at a dinner hosted by San Pellegrino in Paris, France on 4 May, where ISAF will be holding its Mid-Year meetings. Paris is of course an especially significant venue as it is where the International Yacht Racing Union, which became ISAF in 1996, was formed in 1907. ISAF Rolex World Sailor of the Year Awards The ISAF Rolex World Sailor of the Year Awards will take place during the 2007 ISAF Annual Conference. Generously supported by Rolex, the Awards are the highest accolade a sailor can receive in recognition of outstanding sailing achievement throughout the preceding year. What makes receipt of these Awards so desirable is that the sailors who are nominated and win are chosen by other sailors from across the world. The Awards dinner will be held at one of the City’s most unique venues and will be a night to remember, not only for the nominated sailors, but for the guests who will enjoy the superb hospitality of Rolex. Marking the Centenary in style Every ISAF event throughout 2007 will be an integral part of the Centenary celebrations. Whether a local regatta, or a World Championship event, everyone counts. ISAF would like your event to remember what a special year it is, so welcomes everyone to use the specially commissioned Centenary logo. (Source: www.isaf.org)
